The Tribal Fishing Experience – The Ultimate Predatory Fishing Adventure launches in Uganda

Today the The Tribal Fishing Experience, a bespoke predatory fishing adventure trip, launches, giving fishing fanatics a once in a lifetime opportunity to fish the captivating waters of the River Nile.

Across ten jam-packed days participants will enjoy a host of specially curated activities in Uganda including:

  • Six full days fishing on the river Nile
  • White water rafting
  • Rhino trekking
  • A safari game drive through Murchison Falls national park

A percentage of the fee from each guest that books The Tribal Fishing Experience is donated to non-profit organisation The ONE LOVE Project which provides vulnerable children in Uganda with long term education and opportunities.

Ideal for both experienced anglers or enthusiastic beginners, The Tribal Fishing Experience has just 24 spaces available, meaning each attendee benefits from one-on-one guidance from expert tour leaders – highly experienced fishermen and lifelong friends Lawrence Oakley, 38 and David Micallef, 39 (pictured).

The two Londoners were immediately drawn to the beauty of the Ugandan countryside, its wildlife, its people, and its fishing opportunities – they caught the biggest fish in their 30-year history on the River Nile – a 113lb Nile Perch.

The Tribal Fishing Experience Leader, Lawrence Oakley said “We are privileged to be leading this unique fishing expedition, to Murchison Falls National Park – the best place in the world to fish for the Nile Perch, a fierce apex predator that dominates its surroundings. The Nile Perch is one of the largest freshwater fish and anglers in the region have landed to a huge 300 kgs or 661lb!

Joint leader David Micallef continues “In over 30 years of fishing, The Tribal Fishing Experience provided me with the best fishing of my life. Against the backdrop of the most powerful waterfall in the world, you just don’t know what is on the end of the line, it could be a 10 lbs catfish or a 200 lbs Nile Perch! The locations are steeped in natural beauty, and you are surrounded by a host of wildlife from hippos to elephants, zebras, and every bird you can think of, it really is a once in a lifetime opportunity.”

A packed fishing agenda awaits – keen fly anglers will delight in the fact that Nile Perch and the tricky Tetra fish can be targeted with strong fly-fishing tackle and methods of catching the Nile Perch include live bait fish suspended mid-water and lure fishing with imitation baits. Other key targets include Tilapia, Vunda Catfish, Tiger Fish and Lung Fish and all fishing is done on a catch and release basis only.
